I've seen art therapy as a patient but also as a teacher would see it. It's made me see that creating something with you hands can be therapeutic, help you recover and somehow put yourself back together.
I had a severe traumatic brain injury in 2008 and went to art therapy. It helped me to start painting again but also made me feel more positive and more "myself" again. Below are a few of the marks I made on paper and also my first painting post injury.
A few years later, I was interested in the art therapy process so went to an art therapy adult course at University of Glasgow in 2011. It helped me to see how the therapy works and how the pictures I made each week represented me and how my brain works.
